This information will be subject to revision as time goes on. And of course there is always a question of whether Social Media of any kind is worth the time we put into it.
From a pragmatic sense, I am open to the benefits of having some form of this, whilst I have distanced myself greatly from the usual ones, Facebook, Twitter and so on, there are some new ones that pride themselves on both privacy and free speech. I’ll list some below and where appropriate/applicable, I’ll provide details of my own public presence (i.e. with The Antifragile Male branding) on them.
I’ll also include messenger based ones, as some of these are more like old style chat groups with instant messaging elements thrown in. Also claiming better freedom of speech and/or privacy.
- Gab.com – Has an app that you may struggle to find on Google play (what a shock) but if you sign up via an internet browser, you can ‘add to homescreen’ when prompted and an app will download. It is a bit slow at the moment as I write this, as so many people have been signing up! You can find me on there as ‘TheAntifragileMale’.
- Minds – Similar to Gab.com, though this has an app on Google Play currently for this. You can subscribe to peoples feeds. I have spotted a few good accounts such as Zuby, Timcast, WeAreChange, Stefan Molyneux, Paul Joseph Watson, New Discourses and Nerdrotic on there. Many of which have had issues being de-platformed/cancelled on big-tech platforms. You can find me on there as ‘TheAntifragileMale’.
- BitChute.com – Another one making a stand against big-tech. There is a lot of crap on there from legitimately far-right users, but if you can take a deep breath and weed that out (as I do) and only subscribe to the channels that appeal to you, then it’s worth checking out. You can find me on there as ‘TheAntifragileMale’.
- MeWe – They describe their platform as the next gen social network. Another one presenting pride in privacy and freedom of speech. You seem to be able to post and chat on there, so lots of positive potential.
- Parler – Good luck getting on that. The mainstream media and the big-tech conglomerates publicly went to town on this in January 2021. Labelled it unfairly as a ‘dangerous far-right platform’ (the usual nonsense) and its hosting service provider Amazon (AWS) pulled the plug. Hopefully it comes back soon and much stronger. Antifragile! We have to be.
- Discord – Kind of like a chat group app with instant messaging and other communication functions like Skype. Check it out. I have it but need to use it more to be honest before I can suggest finding me on there.
- Telegram – Similar to WhatsApp in how it works. Been getting a lot of positive buzz lately.
- Signal – As per Telegram above.
- Rumble.com – I need to check this out. I don’t have an account yet but I understand that some YouTubers are going to this for uploading videos.
