This stunning announcement comes weeks after Musk, the billionaire CEO of Tesla and SpaceX, criticized Twitter's dedication and adherence to the principle of free speech. Since then, he purchased a 9% stake in the company and received an invitation to join Twitter's board before ultimately rejecting that offer.
On April 14, Musk made his "best and final offer" to purchase Twitter outright, paying a 54% premium over what the stock was valued at the time. Twitter has now taken the deal.
Elon Musk now is the sole owner of Twitter! The public square now has moved one significant step closer to being a tad more open and trustworthy (e.g. having open source algorithms). We will see how this plays out of course for better or for worse, but for now, this seems to be a positive move.
Let’s see if they allow back The Babylon Bee, President Trump, Alex Jones, Meghan Murphy, Milo Yiannopoulos… any or all of these. Regardless of our differences, this will be interesting.
Finally, it is important that we don’t lose sight of the flip side here, i.e. the threats posed by Elon Musk and some of his other projects. Brain microchips and high-speed surveillance networks are not a good thing (broadly speaking of course).
I don’t want to bash him for the sake of it… but do not trust this man. As we say in the Red Pill community when talking about female partners… watch what they are doing (spending the weekend away from you, in Vegas with her friends partying) rather than listening to what they are telling you (that she loves you and wants to be with you).
