COMMENTARY ON THE BELOW ARTICLE: The word ‘woke’ is coming up a lot in this morning’s headlines. I tend to to have the ‘want for a better word’ when using this. Mostly because I tend to associate its over-use by people like Piers Morgan and the Daily Mail.
It still has it’s place though. I mean we generally know what it means. But let’s be more clear. We probably need to define the word ‘woke’ a bit more.
Eric Kauffmann, Professor of Politics at Birkbeck College, University of London and Board Member for the Study of Partisanship and Ideology defined this in an April 2021 interview as “(the) sacrilisation of historically disadvantaged race, gender and sexual minorities”… So we’ll go with that – BrandX.
